The moon's never lacked such light.
The sky's never been so dark.
You'd ne'er hold yourself as high;
Worse than the meadow's bright lark.
The trees are swaying with grievance.
Chilling howls are brought to my ear.
This place is full of remembrance,
As I now remember last year.
The moon shone almost as dimly.
The sky was almost as dark.
Someone held my wrist firmly.
'Twas then heard their remark.
Alas! My eyes 'held a soul.
He unjustly questioned my reason.
I revealed that I didn't know,
And thus he accused me of treason.
Two had now perished by my hands.
I sat in a quandary, confused.
Many already lay dead in these lands.
I suddenly became more bemused.
Now everything was like it had been.
I surveyed the stones replacing life.
Took one last glance t'wards what lied within.
I fell to the ground, sobbing with strife.
Aghast with my acts of ego.
For one more chance, I would die.
To alter sole's path long ago.
No longer to live, I surmised.
I relieved from my pocket, the knife.
Soon to be card'nal by my gloomy life.
My horrible actions a year to today.
Forever consumed me and now bade me pay.
